ADC Rejects Claims Of Controversy Over Atiku’s Membership Registration

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Tuesday denied any controversy surrounding former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s registration as a party member in Adamawa State.

ADC National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, in a statement, said reports suggesting Atiku had not completed a valid registration were false. He dismissed claims made by the party’s Director of Media and Public Affairs, Christopher Okechukwu, insisting that the individual quoted in the earlier reports does not exist in the party’s leadership or records.

“The national leadership of the ADC is not in any doubt, and no one authorised to speak for the party has said anything close to what was reported,” Abdullahi said, warning that publishing unauthorised statements misleads the public and undermines confidence in democratic institutions.

The statement stressed that weakening opposition parties threatens Nigeria’s multiparty democracy, urging media outlets to avoid amplifying false narratives.
