The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed the reception for Gov. Agbu Kefas of Taraba, which was initially scheduled for Wednesday.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Felix Morka, announced the postponement on Tuesday in Abuja, stating that a new date would be communicated later.
Kefas had previously declared his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC. Morka explained that the postponement was intended to honour members of the armed forces and citizens recently killed by acts of terror, as well as to show respect for victims of recent abductions, including the kidnapped secondary school students in Kebbi State.
“We salute the courage and sacrifices of our men and women in uniform, who put their lives on the line in defence of our liberty and security. As we mourn our dear compatriots, we pray for the safe return of our innocent students, who were forcefully taken from their families by forces of evil. Our great party commiserates deeply with the families of victims of these incidents,” the APC spokesman said.
He added that the administration of President Bola Tinubu remains committed to eliminating insurgency and banditry within the nation’s borders and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
