VDM And Mr Jollof Clash On Flight, Sparking Social Media Backlash

A heated confrontation between social media influencer Martins Otse (Verydarkman, VDM) and comedian Freedom Atsepoyi (Mr Jollof) disrupted a commercial flight in Nigeria on Monday, generating widespread attention on social media.

Footage circulating online shows the two celebrities fighting aboard a United Nigeria Airlines flight reportedly travelling from Asaba to Lagos. Other passengers intervened, and airline staff eventually removed both men from the plane, handing them to airport security.

VDM later posted videos on Facebook acknowledging the fight, displaying bite marks on his chest and claiming Mr Jollof had attacked him. “He bite me… man wey dey bite, he no shame. He don spoil my tattoo now with his teeth,” VDM said.

The incident has drawn mixed reactions online. Many condemned the celebrities’ actions as immature and unsafe, while others defended them. Social media comments ranged from humorous jabs to suggestions that aviation authorities should sanction both parties. One user wrote, “How it’s supposed to be. Not everything should stay online,” while another called the fight “very childish.”

This episode highlights the growing trend of online conflicts spilling into physical confrontations among public figures in Nigeria, prompting debates on accountability and the role of social media in celebrity culture.
