The Eredo Local Council has upgraded 168 roads and built eight solar-powered boreholes across its communities to improve living standards.
The Chairman, Mr. Monsuru Akinloye, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the projects benefitted communities including Odo-Egiri, Ilara, Ibonwon, Odogbawojo, Imokun, and Odomola.
“This upgrading will ease vehicular movement and open up rural areas for economic growth,” he said. Four major roads were constructed at Adebowale, Odogbawojo, Imokun, and Odo-Egiri, described as strategic links to inner communities.
The solar-powered boreholes were installed at Ibonwon Market, Ilara Town Hall, Odo-Egiri, Odogbawojo Community Centre, Eredo Secretariat, Imokun, Oke-Ako, and Mojoda to provide clean water.
Additionally, the council constructed 21 classroom blocks across primary schools, including UPE Primary School, AUD Primary School, and Ansar-Ud-Deen Primary School.
Akinloye said the projects were executed with support from the Lagos State Government and urged residents to support the council through prompt payment of taxes and levies, noting that internally-generated revenue is vital for project execution.
He assured that the administration would focus on youth empowerment, healthcare, and environmental management in 2026.
