INEC Presents Certificate Of Return To Re-elected Anambra Governor Soludo

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented the Certificate of Return to Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, confirming his re-election as governor in the November 8 Anambra governorship election.

The certificate was handed over by Mr. Kenneth Ikeagu, INEC Supervising National Electoral Commissioner for the election, at the commission’s Awka office, in line with Section 72(1) of the Electoral Act, 2022, which mandates issuance of certificates within 14 days to duly elected candidates.

Soludo, of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), who scored 422,664 votes, thanked President Bola Tinubu, security agencies, and INEC for ensuring a free, fair, and transparent election. He described his victory, with 73% of the valid votes cast, as historic.

The governor urged Nigerians to support INEC and called on opponents to cooperate for the progress of Anambra State, saying: “The election is over. It is time to come together and serve our people, because Anambra must continue to rise.”

The runner-up, Mr. Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), scored 99,445 votes.
