APGA Celebrates Soludo’s “Overwhelming” Re-Election, Calls For Unity In Anambra

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has described the re-election of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in Anambra State as a landmark endorsement of progressive governance and a decisive vote of confidence from the people.

In a statement released on Sunday in Awka, Dr Ejimofor Opara, APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, said Soludo’s victory — secured with 73 per cent of votes and wins in 98 per cent of the state’s 326 wards — underscored his popularity and record of performance.

“The result is not just an election outcome but a referendum on leadership,” Opara said. “It shows that the people of Anambra continue to believe in APGA’s vision of a liveable, prosperous and globally competitive homeland.”

Opara expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for fostering a peaceful environment and commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he described as a transparent, credible and peaceful election. He also acknowledged the professionalism of security agencies during the poll.

The APGA spokesperson, however, mourned the death of Mr Francis Ibe, the party’s leader in Orumba South and councillor for Owerre-Ezukala, who was shot dead by unidentified gunmen shortly after casting his vote. He called for swift justice and the arrest of those responsible.

While thanking voters for their participation and resilience, Opara urged opposition candidates to embrace Governor Soludo’s call for reconciliation and joint efforts toward the state’s progress.

“Elections come and go, but governance and development are continuous,” he said. “This is a time for unity and collective action in the service of Anambra.”

He reaffirmed APGA’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions, promoting good governance and expanding opportunities for citizens.

“This victory is the beginning of a new phase,” Opara said. “Together, we shall continue to build an Anambra that embodies peace, prosperity and excellence.”
