DSVA Commends Lagos Police For Arresting Taxi Driver Accused Of Serial Rape

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has lauded the Lagos State Police Command for the arrest of a taxi driver accused of repeatedly raping and defiling female passengers.

In a statement on Sunday via its official X handle, @Lagosdsva, the agency said it is collaborating with the police to ensure that the suspect faces the full weight of the law.

“We commend the police for their professionalism and dedication in apprehending the suspect,” DSVA stated.

The agency appealed to other possible victims to come forward and share their experiences to strengthen the investigation, assuring that all information provided would be treated with confidentiality and compassion.

It added that survivors would be provided with psychological, legal, and medical assistance, reaffirming the state’s zero tolerance for sexual and gender-based violence.

Earlier, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Lagos Police spokesperson, confirmed the suspect’s arrest on Saturday, noting that his image had gone viral on social media after several victims reported his alleged crimes.

Adebisi said the suspect was arrested on Friday morning at about 9:40 a.m., following an operation ordered by Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh.

According to her, a red Toyota Corolla with registration number JJJ 226 HT, allegedly used in the commission of the crimes, was recovered as evidence.
