APC Disowns Circulating Congress Timetable, Calls It Fake

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from a timetable circulating on social media outlining proposed dates for its ward, local government, and state congresses ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The viral document, titled “Draft APC 2025 Schedule of Nationwide Congresses and Related Activities,” claimed that ward and local government congresses would hold on 10 and 12 December 2025, followed by state and zonal congresses, and culminating in a national convention scheduled for 25–28 March 2026.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the timetable as unauthorised and false.

“The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to the ‘APC 2025 Schedule of Nationwide Congresses and Related Activities’ widely circulating on social media.

Our great party wishes to clarify that the purported schedule of activities for congresses was neither issued nor authorised by the Party, and should be disregarded as FAKE NEWS,” the statement read.

APC last held its ward, local government and state congresses in 2021, while its national convention—at which Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Iyiola Omisore emerged as National Chairman and National Secretary—was held in March 2022.

Meanwhile, there are growing indications that the tenure of the current National Working Committee (NWC), as well as state, local government and ward executives, may be extended beyond the 2027 general elections.
