MTN Nigeria has notified customers of an upcoming service interruption as it prepares to carry out maintenance on its fibre network between AFCOT and Bawo Village.
The company said the works, scheduled for 25 October, are intended to improve network resilience and follow a similar intervention executed in August 2025 along the same route.
This phase will involve the transfer of services to a newly relocated section of fibre, a process known as a cutover. MTN explained that the upgrade will remove previously damaged fibre segments, reduce the number of cable joints, and enhance overall optical and network performance.
The activity will impact 101 network sites across 15 LGAs in Adamawa, Borno and Kano States, including major areas such as Girei, Hong, Mubi North and South, Gombi, Fufore, Michika, Chibok, Askira/Uba and Kano Metropolitan areas.
Because the fibre route is linear and not protected by a backup path, the company confirmed that services—including 2G, 3G, 4G and enterprise connectivity—will be temporarily unavailable during the maintenance window.
The disruption will take place between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on 25 October.
In its statement, MTN Nigeria apologised for any inconvenience caused and assured customers that the work is essential to improving long-term service stability.
