Nigerian Army Commences Promotion Training For 610 Senior Personnel

The Nigerian Army has begun its 2025 Warrant Officers Promotional Training with 610 senior soldiers participating from different units across the country.

The training, which is being conducted at the Federal Road Safety Corps Academy in Udi, Enugu State, will last two weeks and features compulsory medical screening, physical drills, weapon proficiency tests, written examinations, computer-based assessments for clerical staff, and oral interviews.

Declaring the exercise open on Sunday, Maj.-Gen. Adewale Adekeye, Chief of Personnel Management at Army Headquarters, advised participants to refrain from using hard drugs or performance-enhancing supplements. He pointed out that most of the soldiers were above 50 and any stimulant consumption could be harmful to their health.

He added that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, highly values the soldiers’ years of sacrifice, discipline and loyalty to the country.

“You are here because of your hard work and dedication. The Promotional Board will assess you strictly on merit. Uphold discipline, avoid cheating, and give your best in all activities,” he said.

Maj.-Gen. Adekeye noted that the role of a Warrant Officer carries great responsibility, and only the best-performing candidates will be promoted.

Meanwhile, the General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Maj.-Gen. Oluyemi Olatoye, encouraged the participants to remain focused. He assured them of the division’s commitment to their welfare and safety while lauding the army leadership for its support and funding.

Those participating in the programme are Master Warrant Officers seeking promotion to Nigerian Army Warrant Officer rank.
