The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally issued a notice for the Anambra State governorship election scheduled for 8 November 2025.
The announcement was made on Sunday in Awka by the state INEC Public Relations Officer, Mrs Ugomma Lechukwu, in compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended).
“Notice is hereby given that the election for the office of governor of Anambra State shall be held on 8 November 2025,” she said.
Lechukwu explained that voting would begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 2:30 p.m. on election day. She added that voters must cast their ballots at the polling units where they were originally registered.
She emphasised that only individuals whose names appear on the official register of voters and who possess valid voter cards will be allowed to vote.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), at least 16 candidates will contest the election, comprising 14 men and two women.
