Senator Ned Nwoko Responds After Wife Regina Daniels Accuses Him Of Domestic Abuse

Nigerian lawmaker Senator Ned Nwoko has spoken publicly for the first time after his wife, actress and filmmaker Regina Daniels, accused him of physically assaulting her. Daniels made the allegations in a widely circulated video posted online on Saturday, claiming she had suffered repeated abuse and could no longer remain in the marriage.

The couple married in 2019 and have two children together. Daniels, 25, is the sixth wife of the 64-year-old senator representing Delta North.

In a statement shared via his X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, Mr Nwoko rejected the allegations, describing Daniels’ actions in the video as an “unprovoked carnage and rampage.” He alleged that her recent behaviour was linked to substance abuse, claiming she had been struggling with drugs and alcohol.

“Our problems stem from her ongoing battle with drugs and alcohol,” he wrote. “Unless she continues with rehabilitation, I genuinely fear for her safety. She has left for a place where drugs are readily available. I have other wives, and none has ever accused me of violence.”

According to the senator, Daniels had allegedly assaulted three members of staff within 48 hours, damaged vehicles and broken house windows. He also accused her of threatening to kill their resident nurse after reportedly revealing details about her alleged drug use.

Mr Nwoko further alleged that social media personality Sammy West – who described himself as Daniels’ brother – was one of her drug suppliers. Sammy West had earlier accused the senator of assaulting Daniels and sending thugs to intimidate her relatives, claiming it was not the first time she had suffered violence in the marriage.

Nwoko dismissed those claims, insisting Daniels needed professional rehabilitation either in Abuja’s Asokoro district or abroad, in a place such as Jordan, where she would have no access to narcotics.
