The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has sanctioned a 500 million US dollar policy-based loan to advance Indonesia’s green growth agenda and reinforce its global competitiveness.
The funding is part of the third phase of the Competitiveness, Industrial Modernisation, and Trade Acceleration (CITA) programme — a wide-ranging initiative aimed at boosting trade efficiency, encouraging sustainable investment, and supporting industrial reform.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, ADB Country Director for Indonesia, Jiro Tominaga, said the support reflects the government’s ambition to position Indonesia among the world’s high-income economies by 2045.
“These reforms will stimulate greater investment in environmentally responsible enterprises, remove barriers to trade, and strengthen the role of local businesses — especially those owned by women — in driving inclusive growth,” Tominaga stated.
ADB said the initiative would not only enhance Indonesia’s industrial capacity and investment climate but also reinforce its ability to address climate risks as part of a broader transition towards a sustainable, resilient economy.
