NNPCL Replies To Senate On Multi-Trillion Audit Queries

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has submitted answers to 19 financial queries raised against it for the period 2017–2023, according to the Senate Committee on Public Accounts.

Chairman Senator Aliyu Wadada said on Wednesday that the responses had been received but were still under review. He stressed that the committee would withhold judgement until members had examined the documents in detail.

In July, the committee had summoned NNPCL’s Chief Executive, Bayo Ojulari, to explain discrepancies involving about ₦210 trillion in its audited reports. The company later sought more time to prepare a comprehensive reply, which the Senate granted.

“NNPCL has since responded to the 19 questions. Nigerians and the media will be informed of the findings in due course,” Wadada said.

He added that the committee was also probing wider concerns, including the structure of production sharing contracts with international oil companies, and why NNPCL Retail had declared losses despite its market dominance.

Wadada promised transparency, saying the committee would separate credible answers from unsatisfactory ones, ensuring accountability for the state oil firm.
