34 Law Students Benefits From Sen Williams N8.5m Law School Grant

Sen Eteng Williams (APC- Cross River) has empowered 34 law graduates from his constituency with N8.5 million grant.

Williams representing Cross River Central Senatorial District offered the grant to the law graduates who have gained admission into the Nigerian Law School for the 2025 academic year.

In his remarks during the presentation, the lawmaker said that the initiative was aimed at easing the financial burden of attending law school and increasing the chances of success for aspiring lawyers from the district.

He said that the initiative was under his Law School Grant Scheme to financially assist law graduates from the district in law school.

Recall that in the 2024 academic year, 21 law students benefited from the scheme.

He said that with the disbursement for the 2025 academic year, the total number of beneficiaries under the Law School Grant Scheme was now 55 since its inception in 2024.

”Many students face serious financial challenges that can derail their dreams. This support is to ensure they focus on their studies, pass the bar finals in one sitting, and return to serve their people.

”Last year, we supported 21 students with N200, 000 each. This year, considering the rising cost of living, we increased the amount to N250, 000 per student.

“I urge the beneficiaries to be studious and remain prayerful, because their success will not only benefit them individually but also the larger community.

”After your graduation and you start practising, don’t forget your people and your constituency. I believe one day, you will come back to help others,” he said.

The senator also hinted that a broader local scholarship programme for postgraduate would soon commence

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Tasen Egbe, a law graduate from the University of Calabar, described the grant as “almost a miracle,” given the financial strain that often accompanies law school enrollment.

”This gesture shows that we have a senator who truly believes in empowering the youth and promoting educational advancement.

“We commend him for facilitating both local and foreign scholarships for students in the senatorial district,” he said. (NAN)
