At least 321 companies have submitted bids for the 2022, 2023, and 2024 Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Matching Grant projects in Adamawa State.
Dr. Murtala Babayi, Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB), disclosed this at the Pre-qualification Technical Bid Opening Ceremony in Yola on Wednesday, emphasizing the state government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and due process.
Babayi cautioned contractors against collusion or submission of fraudulent documents, warning that offenders would be dealt with decisively.
The projects include construction of three-classroom blocks with offices and verandas, school furniture supply, drilling of solar-powered boreholes, and perimeter fence construction. Babayi commended Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for timely release of funds and dedication to ensuring every child has access to basic education.
Mrs. Rahila Gyndi, Director of Procurement, said the bid complied with Section 16 of the Procurement Act 2007, which mandates that only qualified contractors participate. A list of successful bidders would be announced soon.
Speaking on behalf of the bidders, Mr. Philip Dawa pledged that selected companies would deliver quality work within project deadlines and specifications.
