Former APC National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, has thrown his weight behind Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, urging all governorship aspirants within the party to suspend their ambitions ahead of the 2027 election.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ganduje made the statement on Monday during the official reception of Governor Yusuf into the APC at the Government House in Kano.
Ganduje said the governor should be allowed to complete two full terms, stressing that unity within the party was essential for sustained development in the state.
He praised Yusuf for defecting to the ruling party, describing the move as an act of courage and a demonstration of commitment to the people of Kano.
“Today marks a historic moment for the APC. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has returned to his political home, and all those aspiring to contest have agreed to step aside for him,” Ganduje said.
He added that Yusuf’s political ideology, governance style and policy implementation clearly reflect progressive values, affirming him as the APC leader in Kano State.
Ganduje also dismissed speculation over party leadership in the state, stating that Yusuf’s return had resolved all leadership questions.
He further noted that President Bola Tinubu governs with fairness and inclusiveness, assuring party supporters that Yusuf would emerge victorious in the 2027 election.
Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, also applauded the governor’s decision to rejoin the APC, describing it as a decisive and enduring political choice.
