Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, has praised the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, asserting that he will remain in his position if their coalition successfully removes President Tinubu from office in 2027.
“El-Rufai stated, ‘We will indeed keep Bosun Tijani as he is performing admirably.’”
These comments were made during the second edition of the Arewa Tech Fest, a three-day event in Katsina designed to advance technological innovation in northern Nigeria, which attracted startups, investors, tech professionals, and policymakers.
Minister Tijani was the keynote speaker at the event.
El-Rufai arrived later than expected and apologised for his delay, attributing it to a vital “coalition meeting” that took place the previous evening, aimed at strategising the ousting of President Tinubu.
“The organisers had to carry on without me because there was an essential coalition meeting at 8pm on Tuesday, focused on ensuring that President Tinubu returns to Lagos,” El-Rufai stated.
He elaborated, “I had to attend that meeting at 8pm, and since the Katsina airport does not operate after that time, I could not make it until this morning.”
El-Rufai is a key player among opposition politicians striving to create a wide-ranging coalition of political parties to challenge President Tinubu in the 2027 elections. His political trajectory has changed since March, having reportedly departed from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
