The Nigerian Army has pledged to maintain security operations in Taraba State after two of its personnel were killed in an ambush during a peacekeeping mission.
A senior military source confirmed that troops of the 6 Brigade came under fire from unidentified assailants in Karim-Lamido on 20 August. The attack claimed the lives of two soldiers.
The army announced that a Board of Inquiry would investigate the circumstances of the incident. It also assured residents that troops will continue to maintain a strong presence in the area to deter further violence.
Appealing for the support of local leaders and residents, the army emphasised that effective peacebuilding in Taraba requires trust and collaboration between communities and security forces.
