16 Nigerian Officers To Face Military Panels After Indiscipline Probe

The Nigerian Armed Forces has finalised its investigation into 16 officers arrested over alleged breaches of service regulations and acts of indiscipline, with some slated for trial before military judicial panels.

Maj.-Gen. Samaila Uba, Director of Defence Information, made the disclosure on Monday in Abuja. He said the Defence Headquarters had first announced the arrests in October 2025, and the investigations have now been concluded following proper military procedures.

“The investigation reviewed all circumstances surrounding the officers’ conduct and found a number with cases to answer, including allegations involving plans to undermine the government,” Maj.-Gen. Uba said.

He emphasised that such conduct falls short of the professional standards, ethics and values expected of members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

“Those identified will be formally arraigned before military judicial panels in accordance with the Armed Forces Act and other applicable service regulations,” he added.

The defence spokesperson noted that the action is strictly disciplinary, intended to safeguard order, discipline and operational efficiency within the military.

Maj.-Gen. Uba reassured the public of the Armed Forces’ dedication to professionalism and respect for constitutional authority, stressing that all proceedings will be conducted with fairness and due process.
